Kim's Horses
Below are pictures of my own horses. I have 3 horses of my own and their ages are 6,14 and 17. Their breeds are an adopted BLM Mustang, a Mustang Cross and Grade. The grade horse I consider a rescue since my husband and I picked him up at an auction. Had we not taken him he probably would have gone to a slaughter house.
Name: Buddy
Breed: Grade (Because of his color and markings we think he might be a Kiger Mustang with some Thoroughbred in him)
Age: 6
Buddy has some confirmation flaws. He has a crooked front foot and this foot also has a severe club. I believe he developed the club foot due to improper and not frequent enough trimming earlier in his life. I have had him since he was 2 years old. Also he has a severe parrot mouth so he gets extra feed in order to help maintain his weight.
Name: Saguaro
Breed: Adopted BLM Mustang
Age: 17
Saguaro road foundered on an endurance ride in his front feet only in 1996. Since that time I did corrective shoeing for him, used Bute with him in the beginning and then at the recommendation of my vets used isoxuprine and nitro-glycerin for him for the founder. None of these methods worked with him. In Jan 2002 I attended a Martha Olivo 2 day clinic with him and he has been barefoot ever since. Since allowing him to go barefoot he is doing much better and moves around a lot more than when he had shoes on.
